Together, these two companies use more than 57 lakh metric tons of plastic in a year. According to ‘Break Free From Plastic’, PepsiCo produces about 25 lakh metric tons of plastic every year, while Coca-Cola produces about 32 lahks 24 thousand metric tons of plastic every year. A European Union consumer protection group and environmental organizations filed a legal complaint against Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Danone in November last year, accusing them of misleading by claiming their packaging was 100 percent recyclable.
