Unlocking the Power of GeM Portal: A Government Buying Revolution

In a recent government statement, it has been revealed that the purchases of goods and services through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal have surpassed a staggering one trillion rupees in this fiscal year. The GeM portal, operated by the central government, has been consistently captivating the attention of buyers, evidenced by its monumental feat of crossing the one trillion rupee mark for public procurement during the current financial year. GeM’s accomplishments are further underscored by its exceptional performance, achieving this milestone within just 145 days of the 2023-24 financial year, compared to the 243 days it took in the previous fiscal year of 2022-23.

Projecting the Government Procurement Outlook

The increasing traction of the GeM portal for government purchases is a testament to the growing awareness among people, as they enthusiastically embrace the platform for their public procurement needs. Government departments, ministries, public sector units, state governments, and central armed police forces are making the most of this portal’s convenience for seamless transactions.
