Bond of unity and brotherhood transcends geographical boundaries and fosters atmosphere of harmony: Governor Harichandan

Raipur: The foundation day of Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim states was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Raj Bhavan on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan said that the bond of unity and brotherhood among us transcends geographical boundaries and fosters an atmosphere of camaraderie. The presence of people from different states has infused new ideas, perspectives and skills into the economic and social scenario of Chhattisgarh.

All the states are celebrating each other’s foundation day to promote the spirit of unity in diversity under the central government’s “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat” program launched on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this episode, the program was organized at the Raj Bhavan. In which the people of Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim states living in Chhattisgarh participated enthusiastically. The Governor congratulated everyone on the occasion of the Foundation Day.

Speaking at the event, Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan said it was a great privilege to stand in front of the people of these states who call Chhattisgarh their home and express gratitude for their invaluable contribution. We are proud to have among us the people of Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim, who are enriching our lives and contributing to the upliftment and development of Chhattisgarh. They have enriched the cultural heritage here and accelerated its progress.

He said that the agricultural knowledge and skills of the people of Odisha have contributed to the advancement of agricultural practices in Chhattisgarh, while their experience in mining has helped the development of the mining industry in the state. Besides, the citizens of Odisha have enriched the cultural diversity of Chhattisgarh through their unique festivals, dance forms and crafts.

The Governor said that citizens of Himachal have also played an important role in the development of sectors like tourism, horticulture and education in Chhattisgarh. His expertise in promoting sustainable tourism has led to the growth of the tourism industry in the state. Additionally, his knowledge in horticulture helped in agricultural practices, while his contribution in the field of education empowered the youth of Chhattisgarh.

Harichandan said that the citizens of the state of Sikkim share their traditions, including their distinctive art, music and cuisine. Which has given a living touch to the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. They have not only contributed to the economy of the state but also promoted social integration and cultural exchange.

The children and youth of the three states present in the program presented cultural programs based on their state’s culture and folk tradition. Odissi dance of Odisha state, Nati dance of Himachal, Maruni dance of Sikkim, Vande Utkal Janani dance spread their traditional shade. Representatives of the three states Purandar Mishra, Vivek Acharya and Sangeeta Madan greeted the Governor on behalf of their states. The Governor also honored the individuals and brilliant students of these states who have done special work.

Padmashri Bharti brothers, retired Indian Administrative Service officers M.K. Rawat, P.C. Daly, S. No. Mishra, retired Lt. Col. D.K. Verma, author Dr. Chittaranjan Kar, social activist Arun Panda and other dignitaries were felicitated.

Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahu, Governor’s Secretary Amrit Khalkho, Deputy Secretary Deepak Agarwal, children, youth, women and dignitaries living in Chhattisgarh of the three states were present in large numbers.
