Former UP Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati on Tuesday alleged that both Congress and BJP tried to change the reservation policies for Dalits in the states ruled by them. Attacking the governments of Telangana and Karnataka after Haryana on the issue of new system of reservation within reservation, Mayawati said that BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin and they have increased the threat to society and the constitution.
Mayawati lashed out at BJP and Congress
The BSP chief said in a series of posts on her social media handle X on Tuesday, “It is clear from the activism of casteist parties, who are against reservation for crores of exploited and neglected Dalits of the country and are enemies of their unity, towards the division of quota in reservation that BJP and Congress are two sides of the same coin and they have increased the threat to society and the Constitution.”
In the next post, Mayawati said, “After the BJP government in Haryana, now the Congress governments of Telangana and Karnataka have also decided to implement a new system of reservation within their reservation to divide the Dalits. In fact, this is a new attempt of their ongoing conspiracy to make the reservation inactive and ineffective.” The BSP chief said, “It is necessary to be very cautious about the divisive intentions of casteist parties like BJP, Congress and SP, which consider the political power of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other neglected people as a threat, so that the caravan of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar remains strong.”
‘There is a conspiracy to keep Dalits fighting among themselves’
Earlier, on October 18, Mayawati had said that the Haryana government’s decision to implement classification in Scheduled Caste (SC) reservation is a conspiracy to divide the Dalits again and keep them fighting among themselves.
