Biden’s long math behind inviting Modi

A well-known India expert has said that US President Joe Biden’s government is considering inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official visit next month despite the current challenges in the long-standing India-US relationship. PM Modi will make his first official visit to the US in June at the invitation of President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The Biden couple will also host a state dinner in Modi’s honor on June 22. Rick Rosso, senior advisor and head of US-India Policy Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said India will have the upper hand in Washington. Partly because of his reluctance to take a tough stand on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It was a defining moment for many in Washington, but not for the Biden administration. The Biden administration has a long math. The Biden government has realized that the strategic importance of the India-US relationship lies in the strong trade ties between the two countries. So at the top level it is an indication that both countries are keen to move forward in bilateral relations despite some challenges and obstacles. The Biden government is trying to take India-US relations to a new height both in terms of trade and security.

Rick said that two things need to be taken care of. One, the long wait for visa interviews in India, on which front the situation has worsened in recent weeks. This is affecting the relations between the people of the two countries.
