The troubles of Ola Electric‘s founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal are increasing. After electric scooters, now the government is keeping a strict watch on Ola cabs as well. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed cab service provider Ola to implement consumer-friendly changes. This includes giving refund options and giving receipts for ‘auto rides’. CCPA gave this information on Sunday.

No refund option in a bank account

The CCPA, headed by Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare, found that Ola’s refund policy only provided coupon codes for future rides, without giving customers the option of getting a refund in their bank account. “This practice violates consumer rights,” the CCPA said in a statement. The regulator said that the no-questions-asked refund policy cannot mean that the company encourages people to use this facility only to avail the service next time. The CCPA has also ordered Ola to issue bills for all ‘auto rides’ booked through its platform.

Notice has been received for complaints related to the Ola scooter.

Let us tell you that earlier CCPA had issued a notice to Bhavish Aggarwal’s company Ola Electric. More than 10,000 complaints related to quality and post-sales service were received against electric two-wheeler manufacturing company Ola in a year. After these complaints were not resolved, CCPA started action against Ola Electric and issued a show-cause notice on October 7. CCPA has given Ola Electric 15 days to respond to the notice.

NCH received more than 10,000 complaints in a year

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has received more than 10,000 complaints against Ola Electric in the last year. These complaints were sent to the high command of the company for resolution, but the company did not show the interest in resolving these complaints that it should have shown.
