BCCI has planned to form a working group before the World Cup. Because India is going to host the ODI World Cup 2023. The BCCI has an internal working group on hosting the World Cup, constitution of a Women’s Premier League committee and sexual harassment prevention policy. Meanwhile, the BCC is holding a special general meeting on May 27 to work out the agenda.

BCCI Sachin’s office has sent notice of special general meeting to its affiliates on Thursday, May 18. Along with this, five agendas of BCCI have been kept. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is busy in completing all its preparations for hosting the ODI World Cup. The ODI World Cup is to start from the first week of October this year.

These five agendas have been set by the BCCI

  • Formation of Infrastructure Development and Grant Committee
  • Guidelines for appointment of physiotherapists and coaches in state teams
  • Working Group constituted for ICC World Cup 2023
  • Formation of Women’s Premier League Committee
  • Adoption of Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy

Let us tell you that the formation of the working group is pending for a long time. However, the group may first be tasked with finalizing the venues, which have been pending for a long time, as well as ensuring smooth running of the marquee event and then the tournament. In addition, the BCCI Women’s Premier League Committee and the Infrastructure Development and Subsidies Committee will be added to the list of special and sub-committees. The general body is required to appoint these committees.

The absence of a sexual harassment policy was highlighted during the allegations against former BCCI CEO Rahul Johri. Since then efforts are being made to shape the policy. However, it remains to be seen whether the BCCI fixes minimum qualification or experience criteria to appoint physios and strength and conditioning coaches for state teams.
