Ballia: A case has been registered against the newly elected Chairman of Maniyar Nagar Panchayat of the district. Tahrir, issued by the BSA, accused the newly-elected chairman of tampering with the date of birth in a case lodged at the city police station late on Thursday evening.

Ritu Devi has been elected in the election held for Maniyar Nagar Panchayat. Her rival candidate Buchiya Devi has alleged in a letter to the District Magistrate that Ritu Devi’s date of birth has been wrongly displayed in her Class VI marksheet through coding. In his complaint letter, he demanded annulment of Ritu Devi’s election. After this, on the instructions of the District Magistrate, BSA Maniram Singh gave Tahri to the city police station to file a case.

Kotwal Rajeev Singh said that a case under section 419, 420 and other relevant sections is being registered against Ritu Devi and investigation is being done. Necessary action will be taken after investigation.

On the other hand, the newly elected Chairperson Ritu Devi was duly sworn in on Friday. There was a doubt about that.
