Australia postpones quad meeting due to Biden’s decision not to come

Canberra : The proposed Quad countries meeting in Australia next week has been postponed. Australia has taken this decision because of US President Joe Biden’s decision not to attend the meeting.

The meeting of Quad, an organization of four major countries India, Japan, America and Australia, was proposed in Australia next week. Joe Biden, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida were to participate in the meeting.

Actually, Biden is currently engaged in solving the issue of economic crisis arising out of debt in America. He has postponed his foreign tour next week. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that the Quad meeting to be held next week is being postponed for the time being. Earlier, Albanese had said that India, Japan and Australia can come for the meeting even without the presence of America. He said that the Prime Ministers of India and Japan have agreed to reschedule the meeting and hold it at the earliest.

However, the Australian Prime Minister did say that he may have a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi in Australia next week.
