ASI and head constable arrested for taking Rs 50,000 bribe in Panchkula

Chandigarh, May 14 (Hindustan Times). A team of the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a Head Constable posted at Police Outpost Sector-15, Panchkula for taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. Bribe was taken in case of bike theft. A case has also been registered against ASI Ravinder Kumar posted in Ambala in this matter.

Giving this information on Sunday, ACB spokesperson said that the arrested accused have been identified as ASI Neeraj Kumar and Head Constable Darshan Singh. Both were posted in Sector-15 police station. Both have been arrested based on the complaint of a resident of Karnal. The arrested ASI and Head Constable were demanding bribe from the complainant by falsely implicating him in a motorcycle theft case registered in Sector-14, Panchkula and threatening arrest.

Based on the complaint, the ACB team formed a team to conduct the raid after verifying the facts and arrested ASI Neeraj Kumar and Head Constable Darshan Singh, accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, the spokesperson said. ACB will also arrest the third accused soon and probe his role in the case. In this regard, a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused in ACB Police Station, Panchkula. Further investigation is going on in this matter.
