Baba Amarnath Yatra can be done by two routes. The first is a 48 km conventional route via Pahalgam in Anantnag in South Kashmir and the second is a short but steep Baltal route of 14 km in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Officials said that the yatra will start simultaneously from both the routes. Instead of last year’s manual process, this time Aadhaar authentication based form generation system has been created for passengers. Till last year, forms were given to passengers manually. Now the form system will be generated. All intending travelers are required to obtain health certificates from designated doctors throughout India.
Jammu and Kashmir Police has also held a meeting to prepare for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. Various issues including deployment of adequate police and security forces in the area have been discussed. The meeting held a detailed discussion between officials of CRPF, police and intelligence agencies considering the current security scenario and potential threats to the Yatra this year.
