Amanatullah Khan Under Fire: Inside the ED Raid on AAP Leader’s Residences

Aam Aadmi Party News: ED Raids Locations Linked to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan

In recent developments, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated raids at multiple locations associated with Amanatullah Khan, a prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA. These raids are taking place at approximately four locations in Delhi, including Khan’s residence in Okhla. The agency is conducting these searches in connection with cases registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government.

Allegations of Wrongful Recruitment against the MLA

Amanatullah Khan is facing allegations of orchestrating wrongful recruitments during his tenure as the chairman of the Waqf Board. It is alleged that 32 individuals were recruited improperly during his leadership. Additionally, Khan is also accused of misappropriating Waqf Board’s assets for the benefit of his associates. These allegations have not only affected the Waqf Board but have also raised concerns for the Delhi government, as it provides financial assistance to the Waqf Board.

Previous Arrests of the AAP MLA

This case has a history, with the CBI registering it back in 2016, and the ACB of the Delhi government filing charges against Amanatullah Khan in 2020. The ACB even arrested Khan in September 2022 in connection with this case. During his arrest, approximately ₹24 lakhs in cash and two illegal firearms were seized from various locations associated with him. The CBI also filed charge sheets against Khan and other accused in November 2022.

These raids come at a time when the Delhi Police recently arrested AAP leader and Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Singh has claimed that his arrest is an injustice orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and he believes that his party, the Aam Aadmi Party, is destined to lose the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As per PTI reports, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Singh on October 4th, 2022, in connection with the investigation into financial irregularities related to the Delhi Excise Policy for 2021-22. During Singh’s appearance before Special Judge M.K. Nagpal at the Rouse Avenue Court Complex on October 5th, he stated, “This is an injustice by Modi ji. He will lose the elections; he is losing the elections.”

Conclusion

The ongoing raids on Amanatullah Khan’s properties and the arrest of Sanjay Singh have added another layer of complexity to the political landscape in Delhi. As these investigations unfold, it remains to be seen how they will impact the Aam Aadmi Party and its electoral prospects.
