This plant is also known as ‘Indian borage’, sometimes called ajwain plant. Its leaves are its real identity. Its leaves are light green in color and thick, broad and fleshy, with a strong aroma. 1. Effective in the treatment of cold and cough

A warm decoction can be made by boiling oregano leaves in water to cure persistent cold and cough. If you have a lot of cold and cough, then take 10 or 12 carom leaves and clean them with water and then put them in a glass of water and keep them for boiling on low flame. Allow the decoction to boil until the water reduces to about three-fourths of its original quantity. Take it off the flame and let it cool down a bit and drinking it gives relief in cold and cough. If you want, add some honey to it.

Delicious pakoras can be made by mixing carom leaves in a spice solution of gram flour and frying them in mustard oil. These pakodas can be eaten hot with ketchup or any dip.

Oregano leaves can be roasted and ground to make a delicious sauce or dip. It can also be mixed in creamy curd. Alternatively, make a paste by grinding fresh celery leaves in a grinder along with some spices of your choice. This chutney can be enjoyed with any pakodas, chips, crisps or paranthas.

You can add oregano leaves to any fruit or vegetable juice of your choice. Apart from this, it can also be taken by mixing it in the juice of any green leaf like spinach or bitter gourd. Celery leaves are also reported to have many health benefits, including relief from stomach problems and improving appetite and digestion.
