New Delhi: After Reliance Jio, now the leading telecom company Bharti Airtel has given a big shock to its crores of customers. Airtel has announced a huge increase in prepaid and postpaid recharge plans on Friday. According to the list of new plans released by Airtel, the 28-day unlimited voice plan of Rs 179 has been increased to Rs 199. Similarly, the prepaid plan of Rs 455 will now be available for Rs 509. Its validity will be 84 days. Apart from this, the prepaid plan of Rs 1,799 will now be available for Rs 1,999.
There has been a huge increase in postpaid plans as well
Talking about postpaid plans, the Rs 399 plan will now cost Rs 449. Similarly, the Rs 499 plan will now cost Rs 549 and the Rs 599 plan will now cost Rs 699. While the Rs 999 plan has now been priced at Rs 1199. The increased rates will be effective from July 3. Airtel said in a statement that the mobile average revenue per user (ARPU) should be more than Rs 300 for a financially profitable business model for telecom companies in India.
Tariff plans increased by 12 to 27 percent
Airtel said, “We believe this level of ARPU will enable the necessary investments in network technology and spectrum and provide a modest return on capital.” Bharti Airtel shares rose nearly one percent to Rs 1,491 in morning trade. Earlier, Reliance Jio also announced a hike in mobile tariffs ranging from 12 to 27 percent.
