Dhaka: The interim caretaker government formed in the coup after violence and riots in Bangladesh has now come into action. Police led by Bangladesh’s Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus have started action against Awami League party chief and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under this, former textile and jute minister of her cabinet, Ghulam Dastagir Gazi has been arrested from Dhaka. This is the arrest of the first minister of the Hasina cabinet. Let us tell you that so far more than 40 cases have been registered against Sheikh Hasina and her party members, including murder and riots.
After this, the police started taking strict action against the officials and ministers of the Awami League government of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The ‘Daily Star’ newspaper quoted Paltan Police Station in-charge Mollah Mohammad Khalid Hussain as saying that the 76-year-old leader was detained from a house in the Piergoli area of the capital Dhaka at around 3 am on Saturday. According to the Dhaka Tribune, Dhaka Police detained him and brought him to the ‘Detective Branch (DB)’ office.
Cases have been filed against 105 people including Haseena
Hussain said Gazi was kept at the DB office as the police station was badly damaged after the recent violence. However, the police officer did not give any details about the case for which he was arrested. Earlier, a murder case was registered against 105 people, including Hasina and Gazi, at Rupganj police station in Narayanganj.
