Varanasi: Some casteist leaders from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been vocal about caste enumeration. Voices against such leaders have started rising from Kashi. The intellectuals and social workers of the society sarcastically said that such leaders are conspiring to spread hatred in the society and break the country. A caste census will prove disastrous for the country. Caste enumeration should not be done at any cost, said speakers at the National Seminar on Discrimination-Free Social and Caste Structure organized by Vishal Bharat Sansthan at Subhash Bhavan, Lamhi on Sunday.
As the chief guest in the seminar, Domraj Om Choudhary said, till today I have not understood that Lord Shri Ram would have done the welfare of everyone by treating everyone as equal without any discrimination. So where did we learn to discriminate because we are followers of one Lord Sri Ram. Referring to this topic, Domraj Om Chaudhary said that being myself from the Dalit community, I have felt this very closely and am doing it. It is different that being from the Dom Raj family, I do not face this discrimination in and around Manikarnika Ghat, as the sentiments of the people there are attached to religious beliefs.
In the seminar, National President of Vishal Bharat Sansthan Dr. Rajiv said that any intention to divide the country and divide it into castes should not be allowed to succeed. Enumeration of castes will disintegrate the social fabric. In castes created on the basis of karma, everyone needs everyone. Efforts are needed to bind castes together and make them non-discriminatory. Casteist leaders who destroy the country for votes are like a cancer for the country.
Dalit thinker Gyan Prakash said that caste enumeration will affect the downtrodden castes the most. Now we are safe if we live together, but when a fanatic attacks oppressed castes, other castes will not help him.
Questions were also asked to the casteist leaders by passing a resolution in the seminar. Mahant Awadh Kishore Das, Principal of Sanskrit Dr. Pawan Pandey, Journalist Dr. Kavindra Narayan Srivastav, Amit Srivastav, Ajit Singh Tika and Ajay Kumar Singh also gave their thoughts in the seminar.
