Mathura: A fire broke out in a house under the Highway Police Station area early on Friday morning. The fire that broke out in the building also engulfed the shoe warehouse on the second floor and goods worth lakhs kept there were burnt to ashes. Police and three fire engines reached the spot and brought the fire under control after two-and-a-half hours of effort.
A fire broke out due to a sudden short circuit in the luggage kept on the first floor of house number B-32 in Prahlad Nagar, Highway Police Station area. In no time the fire took a ferocious form and engulfed the shoe godown on the second floor. In no time the flames had assumed a ferocious form. Neighbors informed the police and fire department. Along with this, the house owner who went out was informed about this. On receiving the information, fire brigade personnel and house owner Devendra Putra Veerpal Singh reached the spot.
District Fire Officer Narendra Singh said that three fire tenders reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The fire completely engulfed the shoe warehouse, due to which it took two and a half to three hours to extinguish the fire.
Station Highway Incharge Inspector Umesh Chand Tripathi said that the fire was reported. The landlord lives with his family on the first floor, while upstairs he has built a warehouse for shoes. The cause of the fire is not known, but it is said that the stock of shoes kept in the godown was burnt due to heavy damage.
