Kolkata, May 25 (Hindustan Times). A large quantity of banned crackers was recovered from a businessman’s house in Howrah on Thursday. Sources in the Howrah Police Commissionerate said that the police of Panchala Police Station raided the house of a businessman in Gajgiri area of ​​North Panchala. 16 thousand 500 kg firecrackers have been found from here. These are all prohibited crackers.

A statement issued by the Howrah Police Commissionerate said that 800 kg of banned crackers were seized during a search operation in various areas of Howrah last Tuesday. Apart from this, 100 kg firecrackers were recovered from Jagatballavpur area while banned firecrackers were also recovered from other places during the raid.

It may be noted that at least 17 people have lost their lives in firecracker factory explosions at four different places in West Bengal in eight days.
