Meerut The torch rally that reached Meerut to promote the Khelo India University Games was given a grand welcome on Monday. The torch rally was flagged off from the Kailash Prakash Sports Stadium.
The Khelo India University Games will be held from May 25 to June 5 in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. A torch rally has been going on for two days in Meerut to promote these games. The next day on Monday, District Magistrate Deepak Meena flagged off the Khelo India University Games torch rally from Kailash Prakash Sports Stadium. Students of various schools and NCC cadets participated in the rally. The torch rally was given a grand welcome at the stadium. District Magistrate said, all-round development of human being is possible through sports. Cultural programs were organized at BDS International School Jagurti Vihar and Balaram Brajbhushan Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College D Block Shastrinagar in connection with the torch rally. Additional District Magistrate Nagar Diwakar Singh, City Magistrate Rahul Vishwakarma, Regional Sports Officer Yogendra Pal Singh, Sports Officer Lakshyaraj Tyagi etc. were present on this occasion.
