After this decision of the government, the LGBT community in Italy is protesting on a large scale. Hundreds of people have taken to the streets for gay rights in Milan. Protesters also waved LGBT flags across the city to express their anger at the government’s decision.
same-sex couples were allowed to adopt children
Some Italian courts have ruled in favor of allowing same-sex couples to adopt each other’s children. In addition, Milan recognized the registration of surrogate children for same-sex couples. Despite legalizing same-sex unions in 2016, Italy has refrained from allowing same-sex couples to adopt because of objections from the Catholic Church. Protesters denounced the move as unjust and demonstrated throughout Milan waving flags and placards.
