Ten people, including three children, have died in a house fire in the US state of Pennsylvania. A volunteer firefighter who came to extinguish the fire came to know that his relative’s house was on fire and his son, daughter, father-in-law, wife’s brother and other relatives were among the dead. Pennsylvania police said the three children killed in the crash were five, six and seven years old, respectively.

Harold Baker, a firefighter with the Nescopek Volunteer Fire Company, said over the phone that his son, daughter, father-in-law, wife’s brother, sister and five other relatives were among the 10 dead. Baker said the address he was initially given was that of a neighboring house, but upon arriving at the scene he learned it was the home of a relative. He said 13 dogs also lived in the two-storey house but did not say whether any of them survived.

late night fire

A fire broke out in the Nescopeck building just after 2.30 pm on Friday. A man was found dead inside the house shortly after emergency personnel arrived. The bodies of two others were found in the morning. State police and criminal investigators are probing the matter.

Officials said some people managed to escape from the burning house. Fire company secretary Heidi Knorr said one of the dead was 19-year-old firefighter Dale Baker, who joined the company when he was 16. He added that both Dale Baker’s parents were members of the fire service and that his family was always at the forefront of helping those in need.

start a criminal investigation

He was discharged following the death of Baker’s relatives in the accident. Baker said 14 people lived in the house. One of them was selling newspapers outside the house and the other three survived. “There were kids there and two of my kids went to see their grandchildren,” Baker said. A Pennsylvania police lieutenant said a complex criminal investigation is underway. The remaining people are being interrogated.
