Democratic lawmaker Ilhan Omar in the US has introduced a resolution urging the US Secretary of State to declare India as a country of concern for alleged violations of religious freedom. The resolution by lawmakers Rashida Talib and Juan Vargas urges the administration of US President Joe Biden to implement the recommendations of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. India was declared a Country of Special Concern for three consecutive years. The motion introduced in the House of Representatives has been referred to the House Foreign Affairs Committee for necessary action.
