Taiwan’s highest civilian honor for Nancy Pelosi, China imposed sanctions
Taipei, August 03 (H.S.). US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday night after proving China’s threats ineffective, has been honored with Taiwan’s highest civilian honor. Angered by these closeness of Taiwan-US, China has imposed economic sanctions on Taiwan.
According to media reports, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan from Malaysia at 8:26 pm on Tuesday night. He was received at the airport by Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing Wen. On Wednesday, a ceremony was held in Taiwan’s parliament in Pelosi’s honor. The President of Taiwan honored Pelosi with Taiwan’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Propious Clouds with a Special Grand Cordon. Accepting the honor, Pelosi said the US is proud of its friendship with Taiwan. America will support Taiwan at every level. Pelosi said the US would continue to support Taiwan’s democracy. America’s solidarity with Taiwan’s 25 million citizens is more important today than ever, as the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy.
Meanwhile, China, upset by Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, wants to trouble Taiwan in every way possible. China has started imposing economic sanctions on Taiwan. The Chinese government has banned the supply of natural sand to Taiwan. This can cause a lot of damage to Taiwan. China had banned imports from more than 100 food suppliers from Taiwan. Government websites, including the President’s website, were hacked in a cyber attack on Taiwan just before Pelosi arrived in Taiwan. There was a bomb threat to Taiwan’s main Taipei airport. Chinese warplanes were seen flying over the Taiwan border. The Chinese Navy conducted war exercises by deploying warships around Taiwan.
