Ranil Wickremesinghe, leader of a party with a parliamentarian, becomes the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka

Colombo, May 13 (H.S.). Ranil Wickremesinghe has been made the new Prime Minister amid the ongoing economic and political deadlock in Sri Lanka. He has been the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka four times in the past.

The people’s movement over the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka has also created a political crisis. After this Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had to resign. The crisis continues after the violence that took place across Sri Lanka. Now Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was the Prime Minister of the country four times, has been made the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa administered him the oath of office and secrecy as Prime Minister.

Wickremesinghe’s United National Party has only one MP in Parliament. Despite this, due to the image of a good political administrator, he has been made the Prime Minister of the United Government.

Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan court has banned Mahinda Rajapaksa and 12 other leaders of his party from leaving the country. Violence erupted in Sri Lanka after the resignation of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. There are widespread demonstrations against the government across the country. Mahinda Rajapaksa, who resigned as prime minister amid the crisis, is under security at a naval base in the wake of an attack on his close associates.
