Attacks on Hindu temples are increasing in Australia. In the last 15 days, 3 temples were vandalised. Radharaman Das, vice-president of ISKCON Kolkata, said on the attack on temples in Australia, if the police had acted immediately, this incident would not have happened again. Police should arrest the accused. Khalistani supporters attacked the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Melbourne on 12 January. Therefore, after 5 days on January 17, some anti-social elements attacked the Shri Shiv Vishnu temple.
Australian government started investigation
Khalistan supporters wrote Khalistan Zindabad and Hindustan Murdabad slogans on the walls of the temple on the night of January 22 at the ISKCON temple in Melbourne’s Albert Park, Australia. Bhindranwale was also inscribed as a martyr on the same wall.
Australia’s High Commissioner in India Barry O’Farrell said on the vandalism being done in the temples, he is concerned about this matter. He further said that Australia does not tolerate hate speech or violence of any kind. The Australian government is investigating the matter.
Arjun Sakha Das, the priest of the Melbourne temple, said that on January 22, at around 4.15 pm, another priest told him that some people had vandalized the temple and had written anti-India slogans on the walls.
Khalistani supporters ransacked
Priest Arjun Das said it was very scary for the other priest as he saw the first scene after the attack. Arjun Das further said that the priests live outside the temple, so they saw everything while coming from outside.
Priest Arjun Das further said that Khalistan supporters have only damaged the outer part of the temple. The interior of the temple is completely safe.
