Pakistan: 4-5 incidents happening daily in Punjab, emergency imposed over rising cases
Emergency in Pakistan: In the Punjab province of Pakistan, the cases of serap are increasing in the last few days. As a result, the administration has declared a state of emergency in the Punjab province. Punjab Home Minister Ataullah Tarar said on Sunday, “Emergency is being imposed in Punjab to bring the situation under control due to rising incidents of rape.”
The Home Minister further said that incidents of sexual abuse of women and children have increased in Punjab. This is a serious matter for the administration. According to the Dawn newspaper, a spokesperson of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) headquarters told a press conference that about four to five cases are being reported daily in Punjab province. Consequently, the government is contemplating to take special measures to deal with cases of sexual harassment, harassment etc.
Cabinet committee to review matters
Minister Tarar, in the presence of Law Minister Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, informed that the Cabinet Committee on Rape and Law and Order will review all cases of atrocities and advise civil society organisations, women’s rights organisations, teachers and lawyers for monitoring. Such cases will be taken up.

He appealed to the people to teach their children the importance of safety and not to leave them alone. “In many cases the accused have been arrested and students will be made aware about sexual harassment in schools,” the minister said. The government has initiated several measures and campaigns to curb rape.
