The United States on Thursday declared the monkeypox virus infection a public health emergency. The announcement will help raise federal funds and resources to combat monkeypox. According to the news agency AFP, Health Secretary Javier Becerra has said that, ‘We are ready to fight the monkeypox virus. We urge every citizen of the United States to take monkeypox seriously and do everything possible to combat this virus. For this the administration will provide appropriate assistance.

On Thursday, 6 thousand 600 monkeypox virus patients have been found in America. Most of these patients are from New York. A quarter of the cases have been reported in New York. More patients are expected to be registered. It is against this background that a health emergency has been imposed in America. This health emergency has been imposed for 90 days. In the US, the most outbreaks of monkeypox virus have been found in New York and San Francisco.

Nine people infected with monkeypox in India

 

The total number of monkeypox patients in the country has reached nine. These patients include eight men and one woman. Four cases of monkeypox have been found in the capital Delhi, while five cases have been found in Kerala. One patient each from Delhi and Kerala has been discharged. One patient has died in Kerala.

Monkeypox vaccine coming soon

Serum Institute (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla has said that, ‘Monkeypox vaccine will be available soon. Research is going on. Monkeypox virus has been spreading rapidly in many countries of the world for the last few months. Now many cases of monkeypox virus have been reported in India too, reports of many patients are yet to come. Efforts are being made to prepare a vaccine from serum. A vaccine will be available in a few months.
