Iceberg the size of the city of London breaks off in Antarctica due to ‘spinning’
A large iceberg has broken off in the north-west region of Antarctica. It is comparable in size to Greater London. However, the scary thing is that a research station was located near the place from where this iceberg broke. This was the second time in the last two years that such a huge ice sheet had broken in Antarctica. It has been named Chase-1. Now he is ready to swim in the sea.
this iceberg was part of West Brunt
The British Antarctica Survey said that the iceberg broke off due to its natural calving process. However, this has nothing to do with climate change or global warming. It was actually in the West Brunt part of Antarctica that was separated from the East Brunt.
A 150 m wide rift was formed between Chas-1 and the main Antarctica.
The size of this iceberg is 1550 sq km. is the area. When it loosened, a gap of 150 meters was formed between it and mainland Antarctica. This crack was noticed a decade ago. Since then it was slowly increasing. Finally Chase-1 broke down. One such piece which is 1270 sq km. The area was broken up and split up the previous year.
What is Bayana?
BAS glaciologist Dominic Hodson said earnest is a natural process. This is the natural behavior of a ferocious snow itself. It has nothing to do with climate change or global warming. Britain’s Heli-6 research station is located where the fragment was released. The scientists present at this station study the condition of the surrounding areas and Antarctica.
