Earthquake in Nepal: After Afghanistan, 4.3 magnitude earthquake shook Nepal

Nepal in the last 24 hours after the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan even in earthquake has been felt. The epicenter of the quake was reported 161 km south of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. However, this morning, a powerful earthquake in the eastern Paktika province of Afghanistan ( earthquake in afghanistan ) killed at least 1000 people and injured a large number of others.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the magnitude of the earthquake in Nepal is 4.3 on the Richter scale. There were no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage. The National Center for Seismology is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring the seismic activities in the country.

 

A day earlier, the earthquake caused havoc in Afghanistan

At least 1,000 people were killed and more than 1,500 were injured in an earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan early Wednesday, Afghanistan’s state news agency reported. It is believed to be the most devastating earthquake in the country in decades. Officials fear that the death toll could rise further.

Expressing grief over the loss of life and property due to the earthquake in Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that India is ready to provide all possible disaster relief material at the earliest. He said that India stands with the people of Afghanistan in this hour of grief. He tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan today. My deepest condolences on the loss of life.”

Rescue operations in Afghanistan have been hampered by several international aid agencies and the withdrawal of US troops from the country’s longest-running war since the Taliban seized power in Kabul in August last year. This is the most devastating earthquake in Afghanistan in the last two decades.

Houses and other buildings are not strong

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake has caused significant damage near the Pakistan border. This powerful earthquake caused heavy damage in remote areas as houses and other buildings are not strong enough and landslides are considered common.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was reported to be at a depth of 10 km. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the quake was reported about 50 km southwest of Khost city in Paktika province of Afghanistan.
