China released its most powerful ‘mystery weapon’ near Taiwan, Aksai tested it in China

The Chinese Army on Thursday fired 370 mm PCL 191 (MLRS) rockets as part of a live fire exercise. These rockets were launched over the Taiwan Strait. The purpose of launching them is to target Taiwan. The rocket launched by China has a range of 350 km. This information has been given by Chinese local media. According to China’s official newspaper Global Times, Taiwan is being surrounded by sea, land and air as part of the military exercise being held near Taiwan. The Chinese military is using everything from J-20 stealth fighter jets to DF-17 hypersonic missiles in the exercise.

China’s secret weapon

The rocket launched by China has been termed by defense experts as a ‘mysterious weapon’. The rocket system (MLRS) was tested at a time when tensions with India were rising in eastern Ladakh. China recently tested it near Ladakh. Its maximum range is said to be 500 km but some doubts have been raised about it. Some say that it has a range of 350 km. PCL-191 is a truck-launched rocket system that can easily launch 370 mm rockets.

The system can carry eight rockets to 350 km or with a 750 mm Fire Dragon 480 tactile ballistic missile. The range of these missiles is more than 500 km. China first showed the world a glimpse of this rocket system during the National Day parade in 2019. This system is said to be the most advanced system of PLA. In addition, the Global Times reported that the PLA’s Eastern Command Rocket Force fired a variety of conventional missiles toward identified areas east of Taiwan.

many dangerous weapons

The exercises that the Chinese military is conducting near Taiwan include J-20 fighter jets, H-6K bombers, J-11 fighter jets, Type 052D destroyers as well as Type 056A corvettes and DF-11 short-range ballistic missiles . Earlier deployment of early warning aircraft and DF-17 hypersonic missiles have also been included in the drill.

A few days ago, Chinese state media published more details about the DF-17 missiles. The video released by CCTV shows that it is a medium-range ballistic missile. The video was released on 1 August. The video surfaced when the PLA in association with the PLA celebrated its 95th Placement Day.

DF-17 missile is dangerous

The DF-17 missile system is fitted on the DF-ZF Hypersonic Glide Vehicle (HGV). The missile became operational on 1 October 2019 and was the first medium-range hypersonic missile. The 2020 Bulletin of Atomic Scientists states that the range of this missile is more than 1800 km. The US Strategic Command has been quoted as saying that this missile can carry nuclear weapons in addition to conventional missiles.
