China Taiwan News: China’s big move after Pelosi reaches Taiwan, 21 military aircraft enter Taiwan Air Defense Zone
Nancy Pelosi: At least 21 Chinese military planes have infiltrated Taiwan’s air defenses as US Congress President Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan. This is China’s first major step after the US leader’s visit to Taiwan. Before reaching Taiwan, China made several threats that they would not allow Pelosi’s plane to land there.
Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said via Twitter that 21 PLA aircraft entered Taiwan’s Southwest Air Defense Identification Zone on August 2, 2022. On the other hand, according to Chinese media reports, the Defense Ministry has been on alert since Nancy Pelosi reached Taiwan. Not only this, as a result of this visit, ‘targeted military action’ will also be taken against Chaiwan.

Our talks with the leaders of Taiwan will focus on reaffirming our support for our partner (Taiwan) and promoting our joint interests, including advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Reaching out to Taiwan, Nancy said America’s solidarity with Taiwan’s 23 million people is more important today than ever, as the world faces the choices between autocracy and democracy. He further said that our visit is one of several congressional delegations to Taiwan and does not violate US policy in any way. America will continue to oppose unilateral attempts to change the status quo.
US Congress President Nancy Pelosi was dropped at the airport in Taiwan’s capital Taipei on Tuesday at 8.15 hrs IST. He was flown to Taiwan by Air Force aircraft C-40C SPAR19 amid tight security from the US Department of Defense. Before reaching Taiwan, China made several threats not to allow Pelosi’s plane to land.
Amid Nancy’s visit, China’s military, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), also announced that they would conduct important military drills and exercises, including live fire exercises, in six areas around Taiwan from Thursday to Sunday. China made the announcement during Pelosi’s stay in Taipei. According to China’s state media Global Times, the country’s Defense Ministry said that the PLA Eastern Theater Command will conduct joint military operations around Taiwan.
