Thousands of Indian employees have lost their jobs after layoffs in America. Many people are working hard to find new employment within the stipulated period under work visa. The recession appears to be particularly hard on Indian-origin IT businesses. According to media reports, in the last 90 days, more than two lakh employees have lost their jobs in the IT sector of America. In this retrenchment, 30 to 40 percent i.e. about 60 to 80 thousand Indian employees are involved.
Many companies have joined, from big IT companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon to small startups. Unemployed people fired from companies are working hard in search of new employment. According to US media reports, most of the fired workers were Indian IT professionals who had gone to the US on H-1B or L1 visas.
50,000 people laid off in a week
The world’s most successful American tech industry is going through difficult times at the moment. Where about 50 thousand people have been fired in the last one week. Initially, Snapchat fired the first 1000 people. Robinhood then kicked out 780 people. Then Twitter also fired more than 3500 people. Also included are Lyft, Meta, Amazon, Salesforce, Microsoft and Google. Microsoft has laid off 10,000 employees in the last week alone.
