3 injured in plane fire at Miami airport
A plane carrying 126 people caught fire at Miami International Airport in the US when its landing gear crashed on the runway. According to reports, three people were injured on a Red Air flight from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. A video of the incident has been shared on social media. Firefighters used white chemical foam on the plane to douse the fire. Some videos showed frightened passengers running away from the fire, though firefighters doused the blaze.
The plane was arriving from Santo Domingo at around 5.30 pm (local time). After taking off from the runway, the plane collided with several objects, including a crane tower and a small building.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the airplane was a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 and would send a team of investigators to the scene. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said firefighters were trying to control the fire and reduce the fuel leak. Some flights were delayed after the incident.
