Viral Video: Mayor of New York City bulldozers over 100 illegal bikes to make roads safer

Viral Video Today: New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently ordered the destruction of hundreds of illegal and dangerous two-wheelers in the city with a bulldozer. Dirt-bikes and ATVs were confiscated and destroyed in an effort to make New York’s streets safer. To send a clear message to residents owning and operating illegal vehicles, the mayor tweeted a video of about a hundred illegal motorbikes being crushed by a bulldozer.

“You want to terrorize our neighborhood?” The mayor’s office tweeted. “You will be crushed.” Reuters posted a video on Twitter showing how the New York City administration used a bulldozer to destroy dirt bikes and confiscated ATVs. It showed the mayor flagging off the destruction campaign. The clip has been viewed over 1.5 million times.

The mayor of NYC said that about 900 bikes and ATVs were confiscated during the enforcement campaign. About 90 percent of them were confiscated in 2021. He also said that most of them were undocumented and were often driven by uninsured drivers. These vehicles are often stolen from gangs wielding ATVs or dirt bikes used to terrorize locals in the surrounding suburbs and city.

The mayor said that many of these bike riders do not have insurance. “If they attack someone, that person has medical expenses and other out-of-pocket expenses. So we will continue to do our job,” he added. He also reportedly said that highway patrol teams and other enforcement agencies would work together to stop the menace of uninsured bikes roaming the city.
