UP: Minister Rakesh Sachan convicted in 35-year-old case, ran away from court

Kanpur, August 06 (H.S.). The ACMM Court (III) on Saturday convicted Rakesh Sachan, a cabinet minister in the Yogi government, in a 35-year-old theft case. The cabinet ministers were in the court during the hearing but they left the court premises before the judge could pronounce the verdict. There is a discussion in the court that the minister and his advocate have fled with the copy of the verdict.

Leader Rakesh Sachan used to do contracting in Railways 35 years ago. During that time a serious allegation of ballast theft was leveled against him. A case was registered in that case under serious sections. The trial of this case was pending in the Kanpur Court. On Saturday, the hearing was held in the ACMM III Court of Kanpur. Minister Sachan reached the court with his advocate. During this, as soon as there was a feeling of being convicted in the verdict, the case file along with the evidence suddenly disappeared. The minister left the court premises without informing his lawyer. Various discussions have started after the sudden disappearance of the minister and his advocate from the court.

Cabinet Minister’s residence in Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur

Rakesh Sachan, a resident of Kidwai Nagar, started with student politics. Joined active politics in Samajwadi Party. He was MLA from Ghatampur assembly seat in 1993 and 2002 on SP ticket and was also elected MP from Fatehpur Lok Sabha seat in the year 2009. In this way he was elected MLA in 2022 from Kanpur Dehat assembly seat of SP, BSP, Congress and then BJP. At present, he is a minister in the Yogi government. Rakesh Sachan was also considered very close to Mulayam Singh and Shivpal Singh.
