UP: Man allegedly spat tobacco at Zomato delivery man, brutally assaulted him
Lucknow Zomato delivery boy was allegedly assaulted by a customer in Lucknow, the police gave this information on Monday. A video of the incident involving delivery boy Vineet Kumar Rawat went viral on social media. Police said that this incident is from Ashiana police station area of Lucknow, where on the night of June 18, a person named Ajay Singh had ordered food from Zomato, for which Vineet Kumar Rawat had reached for delivery.
Zomato delivery boy allegedly thrashed
Delivery boy Vineet Kumar Rawat alleged that as soon as he reached Ajay Singh’s door on Saturday night, he asked him his name, but he was asked to return saying that he could not take food touched by a Dalit . When the delivery boy Vineet asked for the reason, he allegedly spit tobacco on her and abused her and was thrashed when Vineet protested. Somehow Vineet Rawat escaped after saving his life and informed the police.
Case registered on complaint of delivery person
Later the police registered the case. The accused has not yet been arrested. ADCP East Qasim Abidi said, “A case has been registered on the complaint of the delivery boy and he will be arrested soon.”
But seeing the whole incident, police sources said that Ajay Singh did not use caste words because Ajay Singh’s maid is also a Dalit woman and if Ajay had any hatred for Dalits, he would have kept some other people also.
Samajwadi Party’s reaction to the incident, targeted CM Yogi
“After decades, again the incidents of casteism and mistreatment of Dalits have increased under the BJP government. CM Yogi’s inter-caste friends not only misbehaved with a Dalit food delivery boy but also played with his self-respect and civil rights and spat on him. Face. Very shameful!,” tweeted Samajwadi Party criticizing the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, which was later retweeted by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
