Make the farmer self-reliant and self-supporting by forming a Farmer’s Production Organization: Vice Chancellor
Kanpur, 22 June (H.C.). Khedakursi Production Organization was formed in July 2021 at village Aurangpur Gahdeva with the help of scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dalip Nagar operated under Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology Kanpur.
Secretary of the organization Jitendra Srivastava said that 315 regional farmers are associated with the organization and share money of Rs.7 lakh 77 thousand 30 has been collected. Through which the FPO has also set up a food processing unit.
The Secretary informed that now vegetable spices (turmeric, coriander, chilli, garam masala, raita masala) etc. are being prepared through the food processing unit. Which is also being marketed. He told that these spices are completely pure and organic.
He said that till now 20 percent bonus has been given to the beneficiary farmers of the organization. Due to which their income is increasing. He met Vice Chancellor Dr. DR Singh and informed about the progress of FPO in detail.
The Vice Chancellor said that FPOs play a very important role in both the economic development of farmers and nation building. He said that about 85 percent farmers are small and marginal. Therefore, small and marginal and landless farmers increase their income by forming agricultural production organizations.
The Vice Chancellor informed that FPOs are being formed by all the Krishi Vigyan Kendras of the university. So that farmers can become self-reliant and self-reliant.
