History became existence: The last house of Gonaghat village of Barhalganj also merged with Saryu
Gorakhpur, 21st September (H.S.). The last house of Gonghat village of Barhalganj area of the district also merged with the Saryu river on Tuesday night. Only Shankar’s house was left here. The existence of the village has disappeared with the merger of their house in the Saryu river on Tuesday night. Now this village has been reduced to paper only. The reality of the existence of the village has now become history.
Two decades ago, the Saryu river started harvesting in this area. However, at that time no one had anticipated that even the administration would not be able to save the villages that were cut down. In course of time Jagdishpur, Kolkhas and Kotia Deepshah villages were sacrificed to Katan. The existence of Kolkhas and Kotia Deepshah disappeared about a decade ago. Whereas Jagdishpur village was reduced to paper in the month of September last year. At that time the last house of Sanjay Pandey left in the village was taken away by Rapti. Now Saryu has written the same story with Gonghat village. On the night of Tuesday, 20 September 2022, the last remaining house of the village absorbed itself in the stream of Saryu doing athkheliyan.
Threat to these villages too
Khairati, Kotia Niranjan and Musadohi villages are also in danger of merging in the river. Because of this, fast harvesting has started in these villages. Everyday agricultural land is getting cut and getting into the river. Despite this, even lice are not crawling on the ears of the administrative officers. Their apathy will now force the people of these villages not only to leave their native land but will also give them the unbearable pain of leading a nomadic life.
Flood water entered many villages
On the other hand, the orgy of Rapti and Saryu river continues in rural areas. Till Wednesday morning, a population of more than twenty five thousand in more than two dozen villages was affected by the floods. The flood waters are now rising in the populated areas and people are leaving their homes and taking shelter at higher places. There is a crisis of fodder for daily necessities and animals. However, the administration has hurriedly got two dozen boats installed for movement, despite this it is insufficient. Due to the rise in the water level of Rapti, Lakhnauri, Lakhnaura, Khohiyapatti, Bihua alias Agalgauwa, Higunhar, Subedarnagar Majha, Netwarpatti, Markadi, Bhatpurwa, Koilikhal and Saryu rivers, Jaitpur, Kotianiranjan, Khairati, Gonha, Gyanko, Mutthar, Gonha, Gyanko Villages like Ajaypura, Gorakhpura, Bardiha, Bhayapura etc. are surrounded by flood water.
