Meerut, June 24 (H.S.). Friday prayers concluded in West UP amid tight security. Heavy police force was deployed outside mosques in all districts including Meerut. Police and administrative officials continued to take stock of the situation.
Heavy security arrangements were in place in all the districts of Western UP to conduct Friday prayers peacefully. ADG Meerut Zone Rajiv Sabharwal instructed to keep tight security arrangements in all the districts of the zone. Security was tightened by dividing Meerut city into five zones and 15 sectors. Para-military forces have been deployed along with police PACs at sensitive places.
District Magistrate Deepak Meena and SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary constantly monitored the situation. Additional District Magistrate Nagar Diwakar Singh, SP City Vineet Bhatnagar, ASP Cantt Chandrakant Meena and CO Kotwali Arvind Chaurasia continuously monitored the sensitive places. The areas were monitored by flying drones. Police force was deployed outside mosques. In Meerut, Jama Masjid, located in the Kotwali area in Meerut, the Imliyan etc., located in Hapur Adda, offered prayers peacefully in the mosques. Earlier on Thursday evening itself, the police took out a flag march and gave a message to the people to maintain peace.
