Former Congress leader’s mother and wife killed in Lucknow building accident
The 5-storey Alaya building collapsed in Hazratganj, Lucknow on Tuesday evening. In this accident, the mother and wife of former Congress leader Zeeshan Haider have died. Efforts are being made to rescue the people buried under the debris. Rescue operation is going on since 18 hours. Army team along with NDRF is engaged in rescue.
The accident happened on Tuesday evening around 6.30 pm. The mother and wife of former Congress leader Zeeshan Haider became victims of the accident. Zeeshan Haider’s 72-year-old mother Begum Haider was brought to the civil hospital on Wednesday morning. The doctor told that Begum Haider died during treatment. Zeeshan’s wife was pulled out of the debris after 18 hours of struggle. He also died in the hospital.
According to DGP DS Chauhan, 14 people have been rescued so far. Continuous efforts are being made to provide oxygen to the people trapped in the basement of the building. Talked to him on the phone as well. Along with this, a three-member committee has been formed on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to investigate the matter. The committee includes Lucknow Commissioner Roshan Jacob, Lucknow Joint Police Commissioner Piyush Moradia and Chief Engineer of Public Works Department, Lucknow.
According to the information, this committee will submit its report to the government in a week. On Tuesday, excavation work was going on in the basement of Alaya’s apartment, when it collapsed. The police have detained Nawazish, son of former minister Shahid Manzoor, as the building belongs to him. Alaya Apartment was built about 15 years ago. 30-35 families were living in it.
