Chandauli case handed over to CB-CID
On May 1, the girl was allegedly killed by police during a raid to nab her father, history-sheeter Kanhaiya Yadav, in the Sayyidaraja area of Chandauli district.
The incident was also violently opposed by villagers, who indulged in brick-batting and even tried to block National Highway-2 by damaging an ambulance.
Home department sources confirmed that the probe is being handed over to the CB-CID, adding that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has cleared the file. Formal orders will be issued on Wednesday.
Senior officials of the DGP headquarters said that the investigation has been handed over to the CB-CID on the demand of the family of the deceased.
The deceased girl’s elder brother Vijay Yadav had alleged that a police team led by Sayyidaraja SO Uday Pratap had raided his house after a non-bailable warrant was issued against Kanhaiya Yadav.
He alleged in the FIR, “However, the police did not find Kanhaiya and tried to take me with them. When Nisha protested, she was allegedly thrashed by Uday after which she died.
Later, the SO, along with five other cops, was suspended and booked under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, house trespass, assault, or wrongdoing. Control.
Earlier, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had also reprimanded the government over the incident and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter.
