CM Yogi Adityanath’s unique gift to women, UP government announces 48 hours free bus ride on Rakshabandhan
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday announced 48-hour free bus travel for women in the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This announcement is the gift of the Chief Minister of UP to the women of the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Along with Rakshabandhan, Uttar Pradesh CM’s office tweeted, “On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation should provide free travel facility in buses for safe travel of all women of the state.”
This unique move became even more rare with the head of state allowing women to travel for free for 48 hours, from the midnight of August 10 to the midnight of August 12.
The announcement has been made with an aim to mark the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, and free bus travel facility will be available for women across the state for a period of 48 hours.
Earlier on Sunday, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu urged everyone to uphold the dignity of women and ensure a safe environment for them at all times. Naidu celebrated Rakshabandhan with school children from various local schools at Raj Bhavan, Bangalore.
Greeting the nation on the occasion, Naidu said that Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of the special and deep bond of love and respect between brothers and sisters.
“Happy Rakshabandhan! Rakshabandhan is a celebration of the special and deep bond of love and respect between brothers and sisters. On this auspicious day, let us pledge to uphold the dignity of women and ensure a safe environment for them at all times,” the Vice President’s Office tweeted.
According to the Vice President’s Secretariat, urging people to behave like their brothers and sisters, Naidu said this would promote brotherhood and harmony among citizens and strengthen our nation.
He praised the age-old Indian family system, saying that it teaches us to respect the elderly and inculcates a sense of sharing and caring among the youth.
Stating that sisters bring joy and happiness to the home, he said that there are many Indian festivals which celebrate family ties and strengthen the bond of unity.
One of the most popular Hindu festivals, Raksha Bandhan is an annual occasion celebrated across the country to celebrate the special bond between brothers and sisters. Traditionally, on this day sisters tie rakhi on their brother’s wrist and both exchange gifts.
