White ball series will be played instead of the postponed Test series between South Africa-Australia

Cape Town, May 11 (H.S.). The three-match Test series between South Africa and Australia, which was postponed due to Corona in March 2021, will now be replaced by a series of five ODIs and three T20 matches in the year 2023.

South Africa will host both these series in August 2023 in preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Cricket South Africa is not expected to suffer any economic losses as a result of the change. Although seven days of cricket will now be played less, the white-ball series will earn CSA the equivalent of three Tests in revenue, which is why it has agreed to the change.

Cricket Australia was initially looking at August 2023 as a window to reschedule the Test, but because these matches are not part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle, they agreed to be replaced by white-ball matches. .

The South African cricket team will also tour Australia in late 2022 for their first Test series since 2008, with three matches to be played in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

The two teams have not played against each other in Tests since the Sandpapergate series in South Africa in 2018.
