Tapan Kumar Deka to be IB chief, RAW chief’s tenure extended by one year
New Delhi, 24 June (H.S.). The Central Government has appointed Tapan Kumar Deka as the Director of the Department of Intelligence (IB). His tenure will be for two years after assuming office. Deka will succeed Arvind Kumar whose term ends on June 30.
On the other hand, the Central Government on Friday extended the tenure of Samant Kumar Goel, Secretary of Intelligence Agency Research and Analysis Wing, by one more year.
The Appointments Affairs Committee of the Union Cabinet approved both the decisions on Friday.
Tapan Deka, a 1988 batch officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as the Special Director and is also in charge of counter-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
