Seema Punia finished fifth, Navjot eighth in discus throw
India’s Seema Poonia and Navjot Kaur, considered medal contenders, finished fifth and eighth respectively in the discus throw finals of the Commonwealth Games. Four-time medalist Seema, competing in the Commonwealth for the fifth time, managed to throw 55.92m discus in her second attempt, her best ever.

Gold Coast 2018 bronze medalist Navjot was not in the slightest of rhythm and his best was 53.51m which he achieved in the sixth throw. Seema Poonia is returning to the Commonwealth for the first time without a medal. Earlier, he had won silver medals at the 2010 Delhi Games in Melbourne 2006, Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018 after winning bronze medals.
