Para-athletes will be held in Gujarat after 10 years, more than 350 para-athletes from across the country will participate
Para Sports Association of Gujarat, Paralympic Committee of India and Sports Authority of Gujarat organized the 12th National Junior and Sub-Junior Para-Athletics Championships at Nadiad after a long gap of 10 years. To be held from 27th to 29th, 100, 400 and 1500 meters race, high jump, long jump, javelin throw and shot put will be organized in this event. It may be noted that India won a record 19 medals in the Tokyo Paralympics. It is organized to encourage the para-athletes of Gujarat. Dr. Deepa Malik, President, Paralympic Committee of India expressed her happiness and said that Gujarat is a great center for organizing sports and the sports complex at Nadiad will provide a high level platform to para-athletes from across the country including Gujarat. Through this championship, players will get a chance to be selected for the next Junior International Championship. A camp will also be organized for the players selected for the international level. We are hopeful that the corporate sector will also come forward to organize various level events.
Regarding the plan of Indian Para-Athletics League for Para-athletes in cricket style, General Secretary Gursharan Singh said that the plan is under consideration. We will finalize the league once some technical issues are resolved. National Awardee and President of Para Sports Association of Gujarat Kantilal Parmar, Secretary Chandulal Bhati were also present on the occasion of T-shirt launch of Paris 2024 Olympic Mission.
