Dubai, 25 January (HS). Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has reached the top of the ICC ODI bowlers rankings. Siraj has regained the top spot leaving Josh Hazlewood behind. Siraj has 729 rating points, while second-ranked Hazlewood has 727 points.

It has been a great year for Siraj. Siraj returned to India’s ODI setup in February last year after a gap of three years. Since then Siraj has taken 37 wickets in 20 matches.

On Tuesday, Siraj was named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year while on Wednesday there was another good news for him. He became the top-ranked ODI bowler for the first time, overtaking Boult and Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood.

Not only has Siraj been in excellent form over the last 12 months, but he also put in impressive performances in the home ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand earlier this month.

Siraj took nine wickets in the three-match series against Sri Lanka and four wickets in the recently concluded series opener against New Zealand.

In the year 2022, he was India’s highest wicket-taker in ODIs. During the year, he took 24 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 23.50 and an economy rate of 4.62. His best bowling figures were 3-29 last year.

At the same time, in five matches this year, he has become the world’s highest wicket-taker in ODIs. He has taken 14 wickets at an average of 10.57 and an economy rate of 3.82. His best bowling figures this year are 4-32.
