The Indian women’s badminton team, led by Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, crashed out of the tournament after losing 0-3 to Thailand in the quarter-finals of the Uber Cup. Seventh seed Sindhu was not in rhythm for the second day in a row and lost after winning the first game against Ratnachok Intanon. Sindhu lost the match 21-18, 17-21, 12-21 in 59 minutes. Women’s doubles pair of Shruti Mishra and Simran Sindhi lost 16-21, 12-21 to Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Ravindra Prajongjei.

In women’s singles, Kashyap also lost to Pornpawee Chochuwong 16-21, 11-21 in 42 minutes. India lost 0-3. Meanwhile, in the Thomas Cup, India’s men’s team won the medal after beating Malaysia 3–2 in the quarter-finals.
