Indian Women’s League: Sethu FC beat Odisha Police 3-0
BHUBANESWAR, May 14 (H.S.). Setu FC defeated Odisha Police 3-0 in their Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2022 match played at 7th Battalion Ground in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The first goal of the match came in the 27th minute when Sandhya Ranganathan scored to give Sethu FC a 1-0 lead. Six minutes after this goal, Devneta Roy scored a goal in the 33rd minute to take Setu FC’s lead 2-0. Sethu had a chance to score another goal in the 38th minute of the match, but this time Odisha Police’s goalkeeper Rajeshwari Das sabotaged Setu’s plans with a fine defense. Arifa Zaheer tried to score through a penalty, but Das gracefully blocked her shot.
Sethu FC maintained their 2-0 lead in the first half of the match. When the match resumed, Sethu FC continued their attacking game and in the 68th minute of the match, Renu Rani scored her team’s lead 3-0 and this score proved to be decisive.
This was Sethu FC’s eighth consecutive win in the IWL. With this win, Sethu FC continues to top the league table.
