In men’s hockey, it rained goals as India beat Canada 8-0
The Indian men’s hockey team led by Manpreet Singh defeated Canada 8-0 in their third match in Group B in a one-sided encounter. Six different players scored for India. Harmanpreet Singh and Akashdeep scored two goals each, Amit Rohidas, Lalit Upadhyay, Gurjit Singh and Mandeep Singh scored one goal each.

Rohidas gave India a 2-0 lead in the 10th minute after Harmanpreet scored through a drag-flick in the seventh minute of the first quarter. India dominated the ball in the second quarter and made it 4-0 with goals from Lalit in the 20th minute and Gurjant in the 27th minute. In the third quarter, the Indian players became aggressive and in the 38th minute, Akashdeep scored India’s fifth goal. Abhishek missed the goal in the 38th and 40th minutes. In the 41st minute, the Canadian goalkeeper blocked Akash’s shot. India’s counter attack continued in the fourth quarter as well. Harmanpreet converted a penalty in the 56th minute. Akashdeep scored another goal in the 58th minute after Mandeep scored the seventh goal for the team.
